Elvis Presley - Runaway - 25 August 1969 Dinner Show - The RCA Live Undubbed Master

Nowadays when an unreleased Elvis live multi track recording is released, it will sound as close as possible to how it would have had you been in the arena when Elvis performed the song in question. Of all the live Elvis albums that were released between 1969 and 1977, only MSG and Aloha were completely free of any additional overdubs. Released on 1970's "On Stage" album which chronicled Elvis' in February 1970, "Runaway" was actually performed at his 25 August 1969 dinner show during his previous Las Vegas engagement. Before release it underwent a few adjustments beginning on 26 September 1969 at RCA's Studio A in Nashville where James Burton re-recorded his guitar solo, which was officially titled "guitar solo repair". At the same studio on 31 March 1970, additional vocal overdubs were recorded, which was repeated on 1 April. This is that same rendition prior to all of the additional overdubs being applied as it sounded in the International Hotel's main showroom during that 25 August dinner show. It was released in this original state for the first time in 2019 by RCA/Sony Legacy as part of the wonderful "Elvis Live 1969" set. Having listened to this several times and although not a musician, I cannot hear anything which suggests that James Burton required to re-record his solo although the more than slightly more informed trio of Elvis, Burton and Felton Jarvis perhaps were able to identify something not apparent to the lay person. As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
