Blur: 'We Were All Stoned' | Interview | TMF
Blur, the English rock band formed in 1988, achieved fame with their debut album "Leisure" in 1991, blending Madchester and shoegaze influences. The band later shifted styles, embracing English guitar pop on albums like "Modern Life Is Rubbish" (1993) and "Parklife" (1994). Blur became iconic figures in the Britpop genre, notably engaging in a chart battle with Oasis during "The Battle of Britpop" in 1995. Their self-titled fifth album in 1997 marked a shift toward American indie rock, with the hit single "Song 2" gaining mainstream success in the US. The experimental "13" (1999) explored electronic and art rock, delving into more personal lyrics. Blur's seventh album, "Think Tank" (2003), reflected Damon Albarn's interest in hip hop and world music after guitarist Graham Coxon left early in the sessions. Following a hiatus, the band reunited in 2009, releasing "The Magic Whip" in 2015 after a twelve-year gap. After the Magic Whip tour, Blur went on hiatus again until 2023 when they returned with their ninth album, "The Ballad of Darren." Throughout their career, Blur's evolution and experimentation contributed to their lasting impact on the music scene, earning them accolades such as the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2012.
