R.E.M. New Adventures in Hi-Fi 25th Anniversary Deluxe Review

#NewAdventuresinHiFi #REM This is a review of the new 25th anniversary deluxe boxset of R.E.M.'s New Adventures in HiFi which I consider to be the greatest record ever made (if forced to choose). I make comparisons and include waveform images of all the major releases: 1996 CD, 1996 LP, 1996 CD singles, 2005 DVD-Audio, 2021 remaster and the 2021 Blu-ray hires. Sadly this is an EXTREMELY disappointing release. The new remaster has been hit with a great deal of loudness compression. The B sides have a degree as well. The only truly new material is an uncut version of the original EPK video. The included Blu-ray disc with hires audio is merely the new stereo remaster with loudness compression but mastered at a lower volume. The 5.1 mix is the same Elliot Scheiner mix from the DVD-Audio disc.
