Ben Carson at Billy Graham Crusade, St. Louis, Missouri, October 17, 1999

This is video (about 13 minutes, unedited except to fill the screen) from the evening sixteen years ago when I was introduced to the maniacal repugnance that is Ben Carson, shot by me. This is the first time I've put it up anywhere for others to see. It's been reported that he's long used the Utah bigamist joke at the beginning of the tape. His likening of separation of church and state to schizophrenia has apparently also been part of his standard schtick in churches. The one difference here is that in this video he is clear about his misconception that "God" is mentioned in the Constitution and more than one of the national "founding documents." Evidently he conflated the Constitution with the Declaration, or doesn't know the difference; seems he's stopped naming the Constitution though obviously he's still completely unfamiliar with the facts and the history of these issues. As for the part in the middle, it would be interesting if a medical professional familiar with the actual context evaluated the degree to which his surgical story is anywhere near reality.
