Cotswold Rivers Thames at Lechlade

The Thames rises in the Cotswolds and journeys through London and out to sea. Here we take a look at it as it passes Lechlade. As it does so it passes through meadows and fields and the entrance to the Thames to Severn Canal, which was a vital link for a while between the two great rivers. We see the original Canal administration buildings, now a private dwelling and the point at which the canal and river meet. The canal company built a dock at Lechlade and further buildings as they out grew the originals at the canal mouth. The walking is flat although a little muddy after rain. Lechlade is home to many shops and restaurants. So you can shop for anything from groceries to antiques. Boat hire is available in the season and the footpath affords many beautiful views . Well worth the time to stroll both the town and river.
