'A magnificent collection of Penny Blacks'.
A recent purchase by Bill Barrell Ltd has been an exceptional collection of Penny Blacks, the world's first stamp issued in 1840. A most attractive collection carefully assembled over the past 40 years with an eye for quality, plate varieties, matched pairs, trios, quartets... all the way to a matched septet!! All eleven plates are well represented with fifteen copies from the rare and sought after plate eleven including a very fine used pair. We have produced two fully illustrated colour brochures, already recognised as essential reference, the first covering plates 1a - 5 black and reds, the second continues plate 5 - XI. Copies sent free of charge to collectors anywhere in the world.
