What The Hell Happened to Prichard Alabama?

I visited Prichard Alabama, one of the poorest areas in the United States...and it is unbelievable. Abandoned houses, buildings, its one of the highest poverty and crime areas within America. Prichard has a violent crime rate of 243% OVER the National Average, and a poverty level of 32%. With the loss of paper mill businesses back in the 80's it caused a severe decline in which it has not recovered. Flooding is also an issue as you will see, many of the streets are in terrible condition and some just end up swallowed in by nature. Truly heartbreaking to see.
