Judy Garland Talks Marriage and Happiness on her Wedding Day (1969)

"I've wanted to be married and happy for a long time." On 15 March 1969, Hollywood icon Judy Garland married Mickey Deans. The New York businessman was Judy's fifth husband. Deans' best man was 1950s Rock 'n' Roll legend Johnnie Ray. Judy Garland had only divorced her previous husband, Mark Herron, a month before, though the pair had separated in 1965 after only 5 months of marriage. Garland had finally been granted a divorce in 1969, after testifying that Herron had beaten her. Herron's response was that he had "only hit her in self-defense." Garland was married to Deans for only three months before her death on 22 June 1969.
