Faced with the lack of democratic avenues and the stark inequalities in the country, 135 young revolutionaries, led by Commander Fidel Castro, decided to take action. It was then, in the early morning of July 26, 1953, at 5:15 a.m., that this group carried out the attacks on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba and the Manuel de Céspedes Barracks in Bayamo. Various mobilizations in different parts of the world commemorated Cuban history on National Rebellion Day. Cuba demonstrates its capacity for resilience by consolidating key advances in health, technology, and international cooperation, despite the ongoing siege and sanctions imposed by the United States. National Rebellion Day marks a turning point in Cuba, but the aggression and pressure exerted by the United States on the island, labeling it a threat, continues and is escalating today, while the Cuban people and government have always demonstrated their commitment to peace.
