A new episode about an uncomfortable question: should geniuses be forgiven for their crimes? We're accustomed to reading Tsvetaeva, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Griboyedov, and other great authors as individuals whose texts have become part of culture and language. But what should we do when, behind a genius, we discover a person with weaknesses, cruelty, mistakes, addictions, betrayals, and actions that cannot be justified? In this video, we discuss the line between an author and their work, whether it's possible to love a text without idealizing the person, and whether we are obligated today to reconsider our attitudes toward the great names of the past. This is not a trial or an attempt to abolish classics.
