Kedarnath Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in Rudraprayag district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Kedarnath Temple in the lap of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand is one of the four Dham[a] and Panch Kedar[b] besides being included in the twelve Jyotirlingas. It is the largest Shiva temple in Uttarakhand, built by joining huge boulders of Katwan stones. Kedarnath Temple is not only a confluence of three mountains but also five rivers - Mandakini, Madhuganga, Kshirganga, Saraswati and Swarngauri. The story of Panchkedar (Kedarnath) It is believed that after being victorious in the battle of the Mahabharata, the Pandavas wanted to get rid of the sin of brotherhood. For this they wanted to get the blessings of Lord Shiva. But Lord Shiva was angry with Pandavo. The Pandavas went to Kashi to see Lord Shiva, but Lord Shiva did not find Pandava there. They reached the Himalayas in search of them. Lord Shiva did not want to give darshan to the Pandavas, so he meditated from there and settled in Kedar. On the other hand, the Pandavas were also sure of devotion, they chased him and reached Kedar. Time for philosophy The temple of Kedarnath Ji opens for the general pilgrims at 6:00 am. There is a special puja from three to five o'clock in the afternoon and after that the temple is closed for rest. The temple is opened for public darshan at 5 pm. Regular Aarti is performed from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm with the ceremonial decoration of the five-faced Lord Shiva idol. The temple of Kedareshwar Jyotirling is closed at 8:30 pm. In winter, Kedar Valley is covered with snow. Although the opening and closing timings of Kedarnath-Temple are fixed, but it usually closes before the 15th of November (two days before Scorpio Sankranti). After (April 13-14), the curtain opens. In such a situation, the five-faced statue of Kedarnath is brought to 'Ukhimath' The same statue is worshiped by Rawal Ji here as well.
