SHOULD I BE WORLD CHAMPION? 2025 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship Romagné | John Slade
Wow, yesterday really hit hard. Everyone dreams of racing at MXGP, and to have the decision end like this - after the timer had ran out - feels like a total injustice. If someone needed medical assistance, a red flag would be understandable. But calling it after the timer on the final lap. That's unbelievable, especially at a World Championship level. All competitors should be able to cope with adverse weather conditions. This is motocross. Here's what happened: We had a mechanical issue before the race and barely made the gate - just after swapping in a new coil. John missed the sighting lap but redeemed it with an incredible start and a clean pass for the lead coming up to the final lap. He even built a solid gap - only for the race to be stopped with a red flag at the finish line - as the result they pulled back by two laps giving John a 5th place. We didn't even get the chance to run a second moto to try salvaging a podium finish. It's seems so unfair but the rules are the rules. That makes it sting even more, especially considering how proud we were representing Team GB on the main stage. Huge congratulations to every rider, especially our Team GB athletes, and massive thanks to all our coaches and the entire behind-the-scenes team. Although it's heartbreaking, this is just the beginning. John's only 11 years old. We've have a YouTube video coming soon-I'd love for everyone to watch, comment, and join the conversation. A big thanks to all our sponsors and supporters, both at the races and online. We go again
