TEDxVALLETTA - Diana Tircomnicu - Generation Y and Organisational Shift

Born and raised in Romania, Diana has spent the last 4 years living and building her education and experience in the Netherlands, New Zealand and, most recently, Malta. Being an open person with a passion for creativity and people, she strongly believe she can never possibly stop learning, and she succeeds at this by doing what she does best: communicating with the people around her. She is currently directing her interest in nature, business, arts and communication towards entrepreneurial initiatives that will have the capacity to develop communities in need of change and support. The new wave of young people being hired in companies is demanding attention as the needs of Generation Y conflict with already established organisational cultures. As young people strive to express their creativity, innovation needs to stop being just a word in the company's mission statement in order to accommodate the demand for more flexibility, autonomy, and empowerment of the people that built it. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a programme called TEDx. TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxValletta, where x=independently organised TED event. At our TEDxValletta event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx programme, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised.
