Green and pleasant land
As I continue to fit out my dinghy, far from the sea in rural Somerset, I answer viewers questions about my boat and reflect upon the farming landscape around me. PASTORAL FARMING An introduction to the Pasture Promise movement, which argues for the ecological importance of grassland farming, and encourages the reintroduction of animals to arable farming areas. • Power Grazing KIPPERS Why you should be eating kippers, and where I get mine from. http://www.kipperland.org.uk MY BOAT Do you want a boat like mine? She is an adapted Ilur designed by François Vivier, and built of clinker plywood by les Charpentiers Reunis of Cancale in 1994. The design is based closely on the traditional inshore fishing boats of Brittany, including her single boom-less lugsail rig and lack of a mainsheet horse, (controversial among my viewers). Although rare in Britain, Ilurs are quite common in France. http://www.vivierboats.com/en/ Similar dinghies can often be found for sale in the French magazine le Chasse-Marée https://www.chasse-maree.com/revue/ MORE INFORMATION ON DINGHY CRUISING Read my book, the Dinghy Cruising Companion: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dinghy-Cruis...
