España, vista por los franceses | Momo Kodama

Ravel’s and Debussy’s Spains were different. Thus, in the Pavane pour une infante défunte, Ravel evoked the atmosphere of the court in Velázquez’s time, while Debussy was inspired by the Alhambra to create his most “Spanish” pieces, always using the habanera rhythm. Momo Kodama performs works by both of these composers together with the world premiere of A las cinco de la tarde, a work by Rodolphe Bruneau Boulmier inspired by the poetry of Federico García Lorca.
