I've been coming to Rio de Janeiro for well over 12 years now and lived nearly 5 years of my life here. I know some people will not like what I have to say but it is the truth from my experience of being in this place for so long. Unfortunately crime has gotten worse and worse and if you are not a seasoned veteran this city will eat you alive and just straight up burn you out. I still think Rio de Janeiro is worth the visit as it is not all bad. It's still a beautiful city.
