Is the UK’s illegal migrant crackdown working? - BBC Newsnight
The UK government has previously claimed some success in getting the numbers of illegal migrants down, but what headway, if any, have they made on sorting out what they’ve termed a "broken" asylum system? More than 1,400 people have been detected crossing the English channel in a period of four days. The Illegal Migration Bill, which aims to deport those arriving in the UK without permission, breaches a "number of the UK's human rights obligations”, according to MPs and peers.
