Help Along the Way - Genesis 46:1-47:12

This Sunday we will continue our study through Genesis by examining Genesis 46:1–47:12 in a sermon titled, “Help Along the Way.” As Jacob and his family journey from Canaan to Egypt, we will see God’s covenant faithfulness on display. In the midst of uncertainty and fear, God reminds Jacob that He is with him, that His covenant promises remain secure, and that He will, one day, bring His people back to the Promised Land. Along the way, Jacob’s reunion with Joseph points us to the greater reunion believers have with God through Jesus Christ, while Israel’s settlement in Goshen foreshadows the eternal inheritance awaiting all who belong to Christ. Together we will consider how the gospel empowers believers to worship in the journey, rejoice in our reunion with God, and hope in the inheritance that awaits us in the new creation. I pray you find this passage as encouraging as I have. Soli Deo Gloria! Big Idea: They journey can be hard, but God is faithful, protecting and providing as we go. 1. Worship on your way 2. Rejoice in your reunion 3. Hope in your inheritance ============================ Preparation Questions: Genesis 46:1-47:12 1. What fears, uncertainties, or hardships in your present “pilgrimage” tempt you to anxiety rather than worship? What can you do to worship God better? 2. In what ways have you allowed earthly joys, comforts, or disappointments to overshadow the joy of being reconciled to God through Christ? 3. How does knowing that Christ has secured your eternal inheritance help you endure present suffering, uncertainty, or loss? 4. Jacob stopped to worship before continuing his journey. What would it look like for you to intentionally seek God in worship before trying to solve or control the challenges before you? ============================ Learn more about www.cccsanjose.org #worship #joy #hope #genesis #sermon
