GASGAS EC300 shift mechanism

Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you want. Right side cover off while rebuilding the water pump and installing CHECKPOINTOFFROAD's impeller, and I started fiddling with the shifter while I'm waiting on parts. BAD IDEA. DON'T MESS WITH THE SHIFTER WITH THE RIGHT COVER OFF. I knew better from reading posts on GASGASRIDER regarding removing the right cover. It was made clear if you lay the bike over on the left side to make sure the shifter doesn't get pressure put on it (protect the shifter). Obviously mine isn't on it's side LOL...But the shifter mechanism is very straight forward. I don't mind sharing my mistakes if it can keep someone else from making the same mistake. If you have more ideas please comment below.
