【ホタテのゴミ問題】貝殻が「教室のチョーク」に生まれ変わる!国内シェア約7割を支える工場と障害者雇用の裏側に密着
This time, we went to Hokkaido to see the revolutionary chalk made from discarded scallop shells! Hokkaido is Japan's number one producer of scallops, and the amount of discarded shells reaches approximately 200,000 tons per year. Scallop shells are discarded as fishery waste, but they contain the same calcium carbonate found in chalk! When they actually used them to make chalk, they achieved improved performance, a smoother writing experience, and less likely to break! What's more, 70% of the employees at the Bibai factory of Nippon Rikagaku Kogyo, which produces the chalk, are intellectually disabled. The company has also previously won the "Most Cherished Company in Japan" award. Please check out the video! ----------------- ▼Click here for Nippon Rikagaku Kogyo's website https://rikagaku.co.jp/ ▼Click here for Kyoritsu Sangyo's website https://www.hotategai.com/ [Announcement] The first "RICE Media Offline Meetup" will be held in Tokyo and Osaka!
