Surviving the Amazon Rainforest: Piranha Fishing and River Swimming 🇵🇪

Day two in Peru's Amazon rainforest was definitely one to remember. Our big activity in the morning was to fish for piranhas as well as many other sharp-toothed fish in the Amazon. After sticking our homemade rod (which was a stick with fishing line) into the water for just a couple seconds, we whipped up several different kinds of Amazonian fish. But, the excitement didn’t stop there! Later that day, just hours after fishing for piranhas, we found ourselves riding a boat to the middle of the Amazon River, so that we could swim in a body of water that’s home to, not only piranhas, but also anacondas, leeches, caymans, and electric eels. With shaky knees and racing hearts, we jumped into the longest river in the world, and checked that off our Peru and Amazon bucket list.
