Boiler Gauge Glass Blow Through Procedure | 3D Animated Explanation

Proper blow through of gauge glass is to be carried out at frequent intervals and if any doubt exists about the accuracy of the reading indicated by the gauge glass. However,it should be noted that, when testing , it is not usually possible to determine whether steam or water is issuing from the drain, but a strong blow will indicate any unobstructed passages. The water level gauge should always be kept clean, well lit and in good order. All passages and cocks liable to chokage should be inspected and cleaned if necessary, when the boiler is shut down. GAUGE GLASS BLOW THROUGH PROCEDURE: 1. SHUT STEAM COCK & WATER COCK. 2. OPEN DRAIN COCK, LOOK FOR ANY LEAKS AFTER THE WATER HAS DRAINED. 3. OPEN STEAM COCK AND BLOW FOR 10 SEC, ENSURE THERE IS NO OBSTRUCTIONS. AND CLOSE STEAM COCK 4.OPEN WATER COCK AND BLOW FOR 10 SEC, ENSURE THERE IS NO OBSTRUCTIONS AND CLOSE WATER COCK. 5.CLOSE DRAIN COCK 6. OPEN WATER COCK, WATER WILL RISE TO THE TOP OF GAUGE GLASS. 7.NOW , OPEN STEAM COCK, WATER WILL FALL TO THE EXACT LEVEL IN THE BOILER. #boiler
