Standing at the highest point of West Bengal, you get to witness something very few treks in India can offer – a clear view of four of the five highest peaks in the world: Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu. The moment you see the entire Sleeping Buddha range light up with the first rays of the sun, it honestly feels like time stops. This trek is more than just walking trails – it’s about the changing landscapes, the warmth of the locals, and the small moments you can never forget. One moment you’re walking through dense forests filled with rhododendrons and bamboo, and the next you’re standing on a ridge with nothing but the mighty Himalayas all around you. Nights here are just as special – clear skies full of stars, the cold mountain air, and that feeling of being far away from the chaos of city life. Reaching Phalut is like entering another world altogether. The views are wide, raw, and endless. If Sandakphu is about the Sleeping Buddha, Phalut feels like the kingdom of clouds. It’s a tough trek in some stretches, but every step feels worth it the moment you look up at those snow-covered peaks.
