The PCT’s Toughest Miles And Why You’ll Love Them - Day 126
• Day 126 (Sep 15) of thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail northbound in 2025. After a wet and cold day before, I found myself soaked to the bone, fortunately, I kept my extra layers dry, giving me warmth through the night. Back in my wet hiking clothes, I tackled another day on the trail. The morning remained overcast and foggy, threatening all views of this scenic section around Glacier Peak. Unsure of the conditions ahead, I hiked higher into the mountains, where mystical sunrays began piercing through the fog, eventually breaking above it all to reveal the majestic scenery above. Cresting Reds Pass, I was met with insane views of Glacier Peak, but the day’s real challenge was just beginning. Ahead lay what could be the most rugged and demanding section of the entire Pacific Crest Trail: what I call Blowdown Alley. This short stretch is blocked by hundreds of downed trees of all sizes, with the trail fading into thick vegetation and river washouts. Section K is one that truly tests your determination. Join me as I navigate this difficult yet breathtaking part of the PCT, encountering wild bears, unpredictable conditions, and starry skies straight out of a fairytale.
