Starting to Hike the 3,000 km length of New Zealand (TA Ep. 1)

The start of my 3,000 km (1,864 mile) thru hike of Aotearoa New Zealand’s Te Araroa trail. Te Araroa means “The Long Pathway” in Māori. I am hiking this trail with my husband Brian and we are headed NOBO, which means we are hiking in the northbound direction. We live on Vancouver Island in Canada, so we had a lot of travel to get all the way to New Zealand. First, we moved out of our apartment, then we flew halfway around the world, and then made our way to the start line of the TA. I always find the hardest part of any thru hike is actually getting to the start. From all the logistical prep (   • How I'm preparing to hike 3,000 km across ...  ) to the extensive travel it often takes. I am excited to share with you the entire journey from Canada to the southern terminus of Te Araroa in this episode. And then, together we will take our first steps on New Zealand’s famous trail!!! Thank you so much for watching! I hope you enjoy :) Happy trails, Krys FULL GEAR LIST (with links): https://www.krystanorwick.com/blog/ge...
