There’s no need to bring your wallet with you on this day trip, just make sure to pack some food and water, as there’s nothing but an old Monastery surrounded by cypress, palm, and olive trees on the island. The Benedictine Monastery is perhaps the most interesting point on Lokrum Island. It existed from the 11th century until some point in the 15th century, at which point the Benedictine Monks were forced to leave the island. Popular legend states that, upon their eviction from the Island, the monks of Lokrum passed a curse onto anyone who possessed the island. Walk along the 19th Century Botanical garden and if you're lucky enough you may even find some animals, including peacocks and guinea pigs!
