Fane Ascension Series Speaker Shootout (+ New F25, F30 & A30)

I've been a long-time fan of Fane speakers. As well as being handmade one at a time in the UK, all of the models I've tried have sounded absolutely spectacular. So you can imagine my excitement when it was announced they were adding THREE new drivers to their existing Ascension range. The A60 has always been one of my absolute favourite speakers, so the new A30 really piqued my interest in particular. So today, we'll be comparing the entire Fane Ascension range (well, almost...I don't have the A90...but 7 out of 8 isn't too far off!) Plus, I've recently had the Hylight Custom 50 here on demo, which is a replica of the old Hiwatt DR504 50W circuit: a brand that has been very closely tied with Fane speakers throughout history. So it made sense to take advantage of the situation and use that amp to put all of the spectacular Fane's through their paces. Each of the speakers was recorded with identical sE R1 ribbon mics, in identical positions relative to the cones, and through identical mic preamps. So the only thing that will change is the speaker - so we can compare the fundamental similarities and differences between them. What do you think? Which was your favourite? And at which setting? Comment below! Amp is a Hylight Custom 50 into a Zilla Fatboy 2x12 cabinet. All speakers recorded with sE R1 ribbon mics.
