Gachagua Warns Gen Z to Skip Protests, Claims Sh200M Goons Plot as Murkomen, Kindiki Respond

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged Gen Z Kenyans to skip Thursday's planned protests, claiming that hired goons have been mobilised to infiltrate demonstrations and trigger violence. Speaking from his Wamunyoro home, Gachagua alleged that Sh200 million had been withdrawn to finance the operation and accused Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, PS Raymond Omollo and allies of President William Ruto of orchestrating the scheme. He did not provide evidence to support the claims. His remarks come ahead of demonstrations marking the anniversary of the 2024 Gen Z protests. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Interior CS Murkomen have maintained that peaceful protests are allowed but warned that acts of violence and destruction will not be tolerated.
