Elvis Knew What Was Happening. He Said Nothing. He Thought About It For 17 Years.
Charlie Hodge played guitar and sang harmony with Elvis Presley for nineteen years. In an unpublished interview given to researcher Sandra Choron in 1983, he described a conversation that Elvis returned to across the years — in hotel rooms, on tour buses, in the Graceland music room. A conversation about D.J. Fontana, Elvis's original drummer, and the professional dispute of 1960 that Elvis felt he had handled wrongly by saying nothing. The interview tapes were donated to the Country Music Hall of Fame archive after Choron's death in 2018. This is the full story of the apology Elvis planned, the call he never made, and the one question he couldn't answer. 🎵 Chapters: 00:00 – Charlie Hodge: 19 Years In The Room 02:30 – D.J.
