Arthur Farwell (The Gods of the Mountain)
Based on the eponymous play by Lord Dunsany, Arthur Farwell composed incidental music for a three-member accompaniment: harp, violin and cello. Later (1928), he produced an orchestral version in the form of a suite. One of its earliest performances was given by Henry Kimball Hadley and the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra. The four movements are as follows: I. Beggars' Dreams II. Maya of the Moon - 5:35 III. Pinnacle of Pleasure - 11:02 IV. The Stone Gods Come - 14:11 Performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Conducted by Karl Krueger This recording is available through Bridge Records: https://bridgerecords.com/products/9124 Photograph "Black Beach" by fs999 on Flickr Creative Commons: https://www.flickr.com/photos/fs999/1...
