Chinese CNC gets an Opt Lasers Upgrade XT8 45W - Blue Elephant CNC

#upgrade #cnc #cncrouter So I have had this CNC machine for just over two years now, I purchased it from Blue Elephant in China. It is their base model 1325 machine which I had built to my specifications. It came with the RichAuto A11 CNC controller and is a very capable and affordable machine and has been working perfectly since I got it. Recently I was contacted by Opt Lasers in Poland who manufacture high quality laser upgrade kits for most CNC machine manufacturers. They offered to send me a universal upgrade kit with their new PLH3D XT8 45w laser to test on my machine so that they can develop a kit for the Blue Elephant CNC. I received the kit shortly after but subsequently realised that the RichAuto Controller is not capable of running a laser, due to the fact that it does not have the ability to output a PWM or a 0 - 10v analog signal, so in order to run this laser I needed to upgrade my CNC controller. After doing some research I decided to upgrade to the Masso G3 Touch Controller. After successfully doing the upgrade my CNC was finally ready to accept the Opt Lasers upgrade. I started by mounting the Laser Dock Pro which will receive the XT8 laser module, to the front of my spindle using a custom mount that I designed and 3D printed. Opt Laser also supplied various mounting solutions in the package which could also have worked, but ultimately I decided to go with my own design. Then I mounted the CNC Adapter Pro to the front of the machine and proceeded with the wiring. It was a pretty simple process, there is one signal cable that goes from the CNC Adapter Pro to the XT8 Laser module, two signal wires that go from the CNC Adapter Pro to the CNC controller (Masso), a power supply connection for the CNC Adapter Pro which in turn powers the XT8 laser module. Finally I added a small air compressor in the control cabinet for laser air assist and routed a tube all the way to the XT8 laser module. And that's it... the installation went as planned and the laser is working perfectly.
