As to his influence on the guitar, Dyens continues by saying that Villa-Lobos' Twelve Studies, “represent for me the birth of modern guitar.” His Bachianas Brasileras are a masterful fusion of choros - simple Brazilian melodies - and the controlled structure of Bach's works, something that Villa-Lobos loved.
