Dog Breed Video: Finnish Lapphund

This is a video about the dog breed Finnish Lapphund, from the www.naturallyhappydogs.com website. Elaine Short has had Finnish Lapphunds since 1996. She both shows and breeds them; and is the current club secretary. Finnish Lapphunds have a thick, double coat to enable them to handle the extremely cold temperatures of their native country of Finland. Surprisingly, their coat helps to protect them from the heat too. They were originally bred to herd reindeer. They enjoy a good run and still have a strong urge to chase wildlife. Finnish Lapphunds are intelligent, people-oriented dogs so Elaine would caution against someone taking on this breed if they were likely to be out of the house for too many hours a day.
