A march by white supremacists in the United States is causing controversy. "Take back America!" On July 4th, in Washington, D.C., hundreds of masked white supremacists marched around the U.S. Congress area to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding. Among the flags they carried was the flag of the Confederate States of America, which supported slavery during the Civil War. Interior Secretary Bergham explained that he approved the rally by stating that "white supremacist and anti-immigrant ideologies are completely unacceptable," but added that "freedom of speech is guaranteed." However, because the group's ideology includes statements that deny democracy, questions are being raised about the decision to approve the rally.
