In 2024 explorers finally located a submarine that had been missing since 1944. For eighty years nobody knew exactly where USS Harder was or what had happened to her. When they found her the wreck told a story that had been waiting eight decades to be told. USS Harder was the most feared submarine in the Pacific. Under Commander Samuel Dealey she sank five Japanese destroyers in four days — something no submarine had ever done before or has done since. Then on August twenty fourth nineteen forty four she dived for the last time and never came back up.
