Luke 1:57-66. 80 "The time came for Elizabeth to give birth, and she gave birth to a son. When her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her such great mercy, they rejoiced with her. On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child and wanted to name him after his father, Zechariah. But his mother replied, "No, but he shall be named John." They said to her, "There is no one in your family who has that name." So they asked his father, using signs, what he would call him. He called for a tablet and wrote, "John shall be his name." And they were all amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, and his tongue was loosed, and he spoke, blessing God. Then fear fell upon all their neighbors. Throughout the hill country of Judea, people talked about all this that had happened. And all who heard about it took it to heart, asking, "What then will this child be?" For indeed the hand of the Lord was with him.
