Michel starts with compost or his unique crushed-and-dried leaves preparation for the '1-2-3-4' vats, a technique he introduces for the first time. Then, he shows how to make the indigo extract in paste or powder form from dried Indigofera leaves. For those starting with powdered indigo, Michel explores how to find the right dyeing method in the second Volume of this tutorial (Parts 13-26). Michel demonstrates how to prepare and maintain organic indigo vats, offering insights into achieving a long-lasting, basically eternal vat and stable blue color on fabric.
