Time Machine - Newport Beach - Part II
I just completed the second part of the Time Machine video-history project about the origins of Newport Beach. This is by no means a complete history of Newport, but simply an attempt to bring these historic images alive by using software to enhance, and then colorize each of them. I have relied on a number of local historians, historical societies, and Facebook sites to piece together the timeline for this abbreviated history of Newport Beach's “Early Days”. I hope you enjoy it. I have already started my next project on Huntington Beach….another beach city I spent time in. This included Junior Lifeguard Competition in the mid-60’s, rough water swims, and a chance to see one of my all-time heroes, Duke Kahanamoku, who was over to the mainland for the United States Surfing Championships at the Huntington Beach Pier. Dive into the colorful origins and hidden history of California’s iconic beach towns! This playlist brings the Golden State’s coastlines to life through a stunning collection of rare, historic black & white photographs, carefully colorized and enhanced — not to alter the past, but to make it pulse with life once again. Each video takes you on a nostalgic journey through vintage California, from weathered boardwalks and surf shacks to sun-soaked piers and seaside streets. I’ve searched far and wide for the oldest photographs available — some beautifully preserved, others charmingly grainy — and woven them together with intriguing trivia, forgotten stories, and bits of local lore. Much of the historical detail comes from local Historical Societies, archives, and passionate Facebook communities, helping uncover the “who, what, when, and where” behind each timeless image. Whether you’re a history buff, California dreamer, or beach lover, you’ll find something to love in these stories of how each seaside community found its unique rhythm on the edge of the Pacific. 🏖️ Experience: • Vintage California photography — restored in full color • Untold stories of beloved beach towns • Local legends, hidden gems, and fascinating trivia • The nostalgic beauty of Old California brought vividly to life If you enjoy this journey through time, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe — and join me as we continue exploring the rich history and timeless charm of California’s coastal past. #CaliforniaHistory #BeachTowns #VintageCalifornia #ColorizedPhotos #OldCalifornia #HistoricPhotography #CaliforniaCoast #Nostalgia #TimelessTales #HiddenHistory #history #beachlife #californiabeach #historyfacts #YouTube #storytelling #photography #photoediting #californiabeach
