Two Years of War in Sudan | Update from EMERGENCY President Rossella Miccio in Khartoum
Two years have passed since war broke out in Sudan, causing one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. Over 12 million people have been displaced. 30.4 million people need humanitarian aid. Throughout the conflict, EMERGENCY has continued providing free medical care across the country. Speaking from our Salam Centre in Khartoum, EMERGENCY's President Rossella Miccio says, "The challenges to fulfil our mandate have been very many, from the security ones - we had to cross the frontline to reach Khartoum, to cross the border with Chad to reach Nyala - to the administrative, logistics, the funding gaps. But we have been able to reach this far, particularly thanks to the commitment of our staff, in particular the Sudanese staff. We strongly call on all the parties, national and international, to work together to join efforts and bring to the Sudanese people the peace that they deserve."
