Amberley Volunteers purchase new locomotive - May 2025

A consortium of volunteers at the Amberley Museum in West Sussex has purchased Baguley Drewry Diesel Hydraulic locomotive BD3699/1973 from the Gartell Light Railway, in Somerset. The loco was built for the MOD and used at Chilmark near Salisbury and then moved to East Riggs in Scotland in 1989. The loco will be placed on long term loan to the Amberley Museum Trust and used on the Museum's narrow gauge railway once commissioning and driver training has been undertaken. The transport was expertly handled by Morgan's Lift and Go, based in Lancing. https://www.morgansliftandgo.co.uk/ Please give this video a "thumbs up" and subscribe to "A Narrow Escape" if you enjoyed it.
