【Melodic Rock/AOR】The Storm (Female-fronted) - I'll Be Lovin You 1992~Emily's rare collection

The band name "The Storm" seems to be a pearl in every aor fan's heart. I'm so glad to receive warm response from the bassist and songwriter Mr Tad Derby from The Storm and he shared their story with me. The name is aggressive but the band is affable. Actually, more than one band is named the same "The Storm" in the world. Among them, the most impressive are the two: one is founded by Gregg Rollie and featured Kevin Chalfant on vocals while the other is this wonderful female-fronted aor. Both of the two are marvelous and came out around almost the same periods of time. This time my recommendation is one of the best female-fromted melodic rock bands "The Storm", which all aor lovers cannot miss. The Storm is not a prolific band with only one album. They are featured by Kristina Nichols on lead vocals. If you're not acquainted with her name, pls check out this terrific project by ear and I'm sure you'll be indulged in her gripping voice and all the melodius tunes from this album. This is a five-piece band including two ladies: the blonde lady in the middle is the singer Kristina Nichols while the dark-haired lady beside Kristina is the keyboardist Karen Childs. The album is titled "Sweet Surrender". Originally, Kristina recorded some demos in 1989 and 1990 with these session musicians. Among them, Karen Childs was also featured on keyboards in Doro's solo albums, especially the debut of Doro in 1990. All these demos were released in 1992 but very hard to find. It was until 2010 that their CD record was released by Retrospect Records. That is to say, their album can be available for fans. Though all the tracks were demos, the quality of sound is well-produced, including both fast tunes and slow ballads with no weak songs. Lots of hooks can be found in each track. I post this song "I'll Be Lovin You' because such a soulful ballad hit me in the heart and I think Kristina must put her soul and all emotions into this love theme from the bottom of her heart so that everybody can feel what a mavelous voice from her art of singing. It is worth mentioning that there's a superb duet track performed by Kristina Nichols and Mark Free recorded in 1988 called "Hero Of My Heart", which won Grand Prize, Pro Rock Division and 1988 National City Song Festival. Both of the two are the greatest voices of everlasting aor. Anyway, this album and Kristina Nichols can be listed on the top of female-fronted aor billboard, at least on top 10 in my opinion. Do you think so? #MelodicRock #aor
