In this week’s slow living alone video, I begin by creating and narrating a raw, reflective poem, The Ink and the Page, exploring my connection with pen, ink, and the pages of my journal. The morning continues with handstand practice, revisiting fundamentals and exploring new and soon to return skills. I pause for a simple, homely moment with rosebud tea, before completing a painting. A gentle rhythm of creativity, movement, and stillness — carried through a quiet desert morning. Poem – The Ink and the page the smell of leather beneath my fingertips, my hands brush the leaves with care, the page turns quietly — empty, ready for a new story to appear the words churn in my mind like tumbleweed, I need to capture this feeling within, I look down at the nib that writes history, this is where the stanza begins the edges are torn and withered, the spine has creases to bear, this cover itself has a story, wrinkled with life in every tear the nib sinks into the inkwell, the ink drips as I brush the edge, does the ink know, out in the open, what it's creating as it swirls and bends it starts with a blinking thought, then the shapes begin to cascade, ink spills onto the leaves with precision, sewn together like cotton, crocheted my pen joins part of my being ,bound together until the ink runs clear ,breathing, tuning, refining these words, raw, without a veneer each stanza is captured, rugged, new emotions begin to brew, a tear drops into the inkwell, passion mixing deep into the blue the thoughts begin to relax, like a wave receding into calm, each stanza has captured the daydream of thoughts once dancing, now charmed the smell of leather now merged with my fingertips, my hands have brushed the leaves with care, the pages once quiet — now teeming, my pen and I created something quite rare Filmed during a quiet morning of creativity and movement, with moments of stillness throughout.
