Final Fantasy VII Retrilogy Isn't What I Thought It Would Be... And That's OK

For nearly twenty years, I wanted one thing: A modern remake of Final Fantasy VII. Like many fans, I watched the legendary PlayStation 3 Tech Demo in 2005 and immediately started imagining what a fully remade version of Midgar, Cloud, Aerith and Sephiroth could look like. Then came the wait. The rumours. The disappointment. And finally, the reveal trailer in 2015 that sent Final Fantasy fans into absolute meltdown. But when Final Fantasy VII Remake finally arrived, it wasn't quite what many of us expected. And after playing both Remake and Rebirth, I've found myself in a strange position: I don't always agree with the changes. I don't always understand the Whispers. And I'm still trying to figure out exactly what Square Enix is doing with fate, timelines, Sephiroth and Aerith's story. Yet somehow... I still love discussing it. In this video, I look back at: • The impact of the 2005 PS3 Tech Demo • The long road to the 2015 reveal trailer • My personal experience with Final Fantasy VII Remake • The strengths and frustrations of Remake • Rebirth's improvements and biggest questions • The role of the Whispers • Aerith's fate and fan expectations • What the final part of the trilogy could bring • Why the Remake Trilogy isn't what I imagined—and why that's okay Whether you loved the changes, hated them, or are still trying to figure out what exactly happened at the end of Rebirth, I'd love to hear your thoughts. What do you think Square Enix is building toward with Part 3? And has the Remake Trilogy lived up to your expectations? Let's talk about it. #FinalFantasyVII #FF7Rebirth #FF7Remake #FinalFantasy #CloudStrife #Aerith #Sephiroth #JRPG #GamingDiscussion #GamingEssay
