Can Africa finance its own development?
As aid declines and borrowing becomes more expensive, African countries are increasingly looking inward to mobilize the resources needed to finance their own development. In this episode of the #SustainableAfricaSeries, we focus on domestic resource mobilization, highlighting the role of taxation, trust, transparency and technology in strengthening public finances and financing Africa's development. The episode features public opinion from Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda and Zimbabwe, where citizens share their views on taxation, accountability and who should finance Africa's future. Guest: Stephen Karingi, Director, Macroeconomics, Finance and Governance Division, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
