Magnetic Door Sensor / Security DVR Alarm Input Recording Setup

Learn how to connect a magnetic door sensor to the alarm input of a Viewtron security DVR / NVR. In this video, Mike from CCTV Camera Pros explains how to wire a magnetic door sensor to a security DVR and setup the DVR software to start video surveillance recording, take a snapshot image, and pop-up the live video of a security camera when a magnetic door sensor is opened. This setup works for Viewtron CCTV DVRs (BNC cameras) and IP camera NVRs. Viewtron DVRs are available in 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 channel models. Each DVR model has different number of alarm input ports that support alarm devices such as magnetic door / window sensors. Although not demonstrated in this video, you can also trigger a push notification to the mobile app for iPhone and Android when the magnetic door sensor is opened. Viewtron DVRs and NVRs allow you to easily search for alarm sensor events that were triggered by the magnetic door sensor. When you playback recorded video surveillance footage on the DVR / NVR, all of the door sensor events are color coded in red on a video timeline so that you can easily skip right to them.
