This construction was prioritized after the previous emergency groundsill construction repeatedly collapsed and was eroded by the strong currents of the Progo River. Key Facts about the Srandakan Groundsill Project: Huge Budget: This project, costing up to Rp231 billion, is being implemented as a multi-year project. Construction Period: The contract commenced on October 10, 2025, with a completion date of December 31, 2026. Main Objective: To protect the Srandakan II Bridge from damage due to riverbed subsidence (degradation). To protect thousands of residents along the Progo River from the threat of flooding during the rainy season and drought during the dry season. To replace and stabilize the frequently damaged emergency structure. Dimensions: This permanent groundsill has been redesigned with an estimated span of nearly 300 meters to ensure a longer service life and effectively control currents. The government hopes that with this permanent structure, the people of Srandakan and the surrounding area will no longer have to worry about extreme rainy seasons.
