GADINGREJO (3/10/2025) – A man from Bulusari Hamlet, Bulukarto Village, Gadingrejo District, Pringsewu, killed his brother-in-law with a machete on Wednesday night, October 1, 2025, at 11:30 PM WIB. The murder was triggered by the perpetrator's offense after being mocked. The suspect, identified as ADS, 28, was arrested by the Gadingrejo Police after slashing his brother-in-law, Alfian, 35, to death. Gadingrejo Police Chief, AKP Herman, revealed that the chronology of the murder was triggered by ADS's offense. His brother-in-law had mocked him with harsh words about not wanting to live in the same house if they only had more children like cats. The remark ignited a rage. ADS quickly grabbed the machete from the wardrobe and jumped out the window to hunt down his brother-in-law. Near midnight that night, he slashed Alfia three times, leaving her lying on the ground. The attack only stopped after his in-laws intervened. The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but her life could not be saved. The perpetrator threw away the machete and sought protection from residents until he was handed over to the Gadingrejo Police. Police confiscated the machete and the victim's clothing as evidence. The suspect in the murder of his brother-in-law is being charged under Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning assault, which carries a maximum sentence of 7 years, and Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning murder, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years. The head of the Bulukarto Youth Organization, Zainal, 30, received a call from a resident at 11:30 PM WIB. The resident informed him of ADS's arrival at his shop seeking protection for killing his brother-in-law. He and village officials met with the perpetrator and immediately reported the case to the police. Zainal stated that the murder was sparked by an internal family dispute.
