"Ack Värmeland, du sköna" or "Värmlandsvisan" is a Swedish popular song best known in the English-speaking world as "Dear Old Stockholm". The original Swedish title may be roughly translated as "Oh Värmland, You Lovely" and the song praises the historical province (landskap) Värmland. The lyrics were written by the Värmlandian Anders Fryxell in his musical Vermlandsflickan (The Värmlandian Girl). Lyrics: (English translation) Oh, Värmland, you fair, you lovely land, you crown amongst the countries in Svea rike!* And if I where to end up in the middle of the Promised land, I still return to Värmland. Yeah, there I want to live, yeah, there I want to die. If I from Värmland once take a maiden, then I know I will never regret it.
