While hundreds of rescuers work against the clock among collapsed buildings in Venezuela, some of the most valuable heroes are walking on all fours through the rubble. With their noses trained to detect signs of life under tons of concrete, search dogs have become a key element in locating survivors. One of the best known is Tsunami, a nine-year-old Venezuelan border collie who is part of the canine disaster intervention team training center. He and his handler have participated in search efforts in the most devastated areas. He was joined by Dastan, a member of the Bogotá fire department, to help locate people trapped under the rubble.
