Grinden was designed in 1973 as a spacious family-friendly boat and for racing with a view to the IOR half-ton class. It showed its superb sailing qualities with good positions in the Scandinavian Half Ton Cup and Skaw Race. Grinden received the ID award in 1977 for industrial design.
